West Brookfield- Richard F. Sauvé passed away at home, surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years, Geraldine (Westbrooks) Sauvé, his two sons, Rick and his wife Linda of West Suffield, CT and John of West Brookfield, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, soon after he was diagnosed with cancer, at the age of 82.
He grew up in the Forest Park area of Springfield and was the son of the late Francis and Pauline (Moquin) Sauvé. Richard served in the Navy-USS Vermilion. He was always proud of his country and flag. He was employed by Hamilton Standard for 32 years, in which he traveled for the company for many of those years. His most exciting assignments were working on the SR-71 spy plane program and the Apollo program at NASA during the moon landing missions. In 1971, he moved back home and in lived in Longmeadow for 29 years. After retiring, he and Gerry moved to their lakehouse in West Brookfield on Lake Wickaboag.
Richard loved cars. His passion was sports cars and working on them, whether it was pulling out an engine, helping neighbors, or just cruising in his Lamborghini. He was a member of the Wickaboag Sportsmen’s Club, and the (LWPA) Lake Association. The family would like to thank Overlook Hospice for the care given to Richard, with a special thanks to Mary and Tracey.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 5-7pm in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. A Funeral Mass for Richard will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10am in the Sacred Heart Church, 22 West Main Street, West Brookfield. Burial will be at a later date in The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
