Eda Oliver Obituary

North Brookfield – Eda R. (Whitney) Oliver, 83, of North Brookfield passed away peacefully on January 20, 2022 after a long battle with Dementia at Palmer Health Care surrounded by her loving family.

 

She leaves her loving husband of 64 years, Ernest S. Oliver; her son, Michael H. Oliver and his wife, Jody Adams of West Brookfield; her daughter, Michelle (Oliver) McKeon and her husband Gary of Warren and Lenny Giguere of West Brookfield who she considered her other son; five beloved grandchildren, Julie Oliver, Jill (Oliver) Monaco and her husband Mario and a great-grandchild due in June, Michael Adam Oliver, Eric McKeon and Tyler McKeon; her great-granddaughter, Violet; her god-son, Timothy Chisholm of New Braintree; her two sisters, Dorothy Cole of Scituate and Virginia Fleming of Warren as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Phyllis, Joyce, Joan (whom was her BFF), Barbara, Janice, Milton and Howard E.  She was born in Ware on February 3, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard A. and Eldrude (Royce) Whitney of Warren.

 

Eda worked and cared for countless residents for 30 years as one of the first CNAs at Quaboag On The Common in West Brookfield.  Her level of love and compassion for her family was also felt by those she took care of while at work.

 

Her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends taking walks and going on adventures.  She also enjoyed vacationing with her sister Dot and her husband Wilbur.

 

The family would like to thank Vanessa Aucella for her love and compassion caring for Eda also a thank you to all the Palmer Health Care workers who gave Eda such good care while she was there at her last stop before The Happy Place.

 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 4 to 5:30PM in Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield.  Masks are required inside the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Associate of Worcester, 100 N Parkway, Worcester, MA, 01605 or www.alz.org or to North Brookfield Fire/Rescue, 56 School Street, North Brookfield, MA, 01535.
