Daniel J. Tauras, 74, died on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at home, surrounded by loved ones.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Cecilia A. (Cronin) Tauras, his stepchildren, Deana Mitchell and Michael Clark, and grandchildren Josh, Myka and Mykey.
He also leaves eight siblings: James (Angela) Tauras; John Tauras, Thomas (Aisuluu) Tauras; Patrick (companion Kathy Placek) Tauras; Susan (Joseph) Capalbo; Therese Goulet; Marie Gagnon; and Joseph (Hana) Tauras; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born in Worcester and was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Majella (Couture) Tauras, and a sister, Nina Tauras.
Dan graduated from Commerce High School in 1964. He was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran, serving aboard a minesweeper ship in the Mediterranean Region.
Dan had an appreciation of travel and exploring new destinations, and especially enjoyed embarking on cruises. He was a talented gardener, landscape artist and stone mason.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers from VNA Care and Compassus, who took such excellent care of Dan during his illness.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 23rd, at Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield, from 9:30-10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Service there at 10:30 AM. Face coverings and social distancing must be followed while in the funeral home.
