Michael Lucier Obituary

West Brookfield - Michael D. Lucier, 59, of West Brookfield, died on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He leaves his wife of 24 years, Evelyn I. (Rybak) Lucier; two daughters, Kelly M. Wakefield and her husband Ryan of Worcester, and Amy Lucier of Charlton; his mother, Eleanor F. (Brooks) Lucier;  three sisters, Joanne Berthiaume and her husband D.J. of Spencer, Linda Smith of Spencer, and Jeannine Lusignan and her husband Randy of Spencer; two grandchildren, Alex and Lilli Wakefield, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many friends.  He was born in Worcester, son of the late Alfred L. Lucier.

Michael grew up in Spencer where he graduated from David Prouty High School.  He and Evelyn lived in Fiskdale and North Brookfield, prior to moving to West Brookfield 5 years ago.  He worked as a machinist at FLEXcon Industries for 40 years.

Michael was an avid outdoorsman who loved life and all that it had to offer.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and taking weekends rides through the Quabbin.  He gave the best bear hugs and had a laugh that could be heard above all others. Who ever met him was pulled into his smile and charm, and he brought joy and humor to all who knew him.  His greatest joys were being a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He is gone too soon, and will be missed by us all.

Funeral Services for Michael will be held privately by his family.  An open reception to gather and honor Michael will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 1 to 4PM at the Spencer Fish & Game Club, 155 Mechanic Street in Spencer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DucksUnlimited.org.

Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting his family with arrangements.
