Sturbridge - Margaret M. (Fuschino) Rutan, 98, of Fiskdale died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Holy Trinity Nursing Home in Worcester.
She leaves her son, Michael P. Heningham and his wife Carrie of Ware; three grandchildren, Ingrid and her husband Ben, Sean and his wife Kirsten, and Brennan, as well as four great-grandchildren, Grady, Aidan, Quara and Lennox. She was predeceased by her husband William Rutan in 1966. She was born in New York City, daughter of the late Bernardino and Margherita (Petosa) Fuschino. She grew up in the Staten Island, NY neighborhood of New Dorp.
Margaret was a member of Emmanuel Orthodox Church in Warren and a big fan of the Community Meal. She was a retired federal employee, who also served with the OSS during WWII. Margaret worked with the joint services department of Contract and Defense and was associated with work at the Pentagon until retiring in 1992. She was noted early on for her singing voice and performed at Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Off Broadway musicals, and up to the time of entering a nursing home five years ago, was still going strong and appearing with the Quinebaug Valley Singers. Margaret spent her final years at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Nursing Home, where she was well loved and cared for by the staff and clergy alike.
A Funeral Mass for Margaret will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 10AM in the Emmanuel Orthodox Church, 25 Winthrop Terrace in Warren. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5 to 7PM in the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in West Brookfield following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Emmanual Orthodox Church of Warren.
