Leon W. Fiske

North Brookfield - Leon W. Fiske, 89, of North Brookfield, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Hazel E. Fiske of North Brookfield, who loved baking for him and after all these years he still rubbed her legs every night; his loving daughter and caretaker, Elaine E. Fiske of North Brookfield; his son, James W. Fiske of North Brookfield; one brother, Richard J. Fiske of North Brookfield; three grandchildren, his loving granddaughter, Sharon L. Fiske and her boyfriend, Todd Russo of Ware, and Tyler Q. Fiske of Maryland and Daniel P. Fiske of North Brookfield.  He also leaves a very special friend of the family, Lena Levia-Brooks who also helped with his care.  He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Spaulding.  He was born in North Brookfield, son of the late Nathan and Lula (Morrison) Fiske, and lived in New Braintree prior to moving back to North Brookfield in 2000.

Leon worked in a variety of roles at Kanzaki Paper in Ware for 31 years before retiring in 1997.  He was a self-taught jack of all trades who was always willing to help anyone at anytime, whenever they needed it.  He enjoyed keeping active and working around his yard, and was still mowing lawns up until last year.

He was a long-time member St. Joseph's Church in North Brookfield, and always held deep faith.  At his request, burial will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 73, North Brookfield, MA 01535.
