Helen B. (Zalewski) Dunbar

Ware - Helen B. Dunbar, 93 of Woodland Heights died on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield.

She leaves her son, Richard H. Dunbar and his wife Cheryl of Ware, three grandchildren, Shane R. Dunbar and his wife Amy of East Longmeadow, Rob J. Dunbar of Ludlow, and Heather A. Blakeslee and her husband Peter; five adoring great-grandchildren, Morghan, Emma, Hayden and Camden Dunbar, and Rachel Blakeslee, as well as her sister, Anna Jordan of Holyoke, and many neices and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Harold Dunbar in September 1987.  She was also predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Alex, Frank, and Peter Zalweski, and her sisters, Nora Wozniak, Stephanie Landroche, and Sophie Bilek.  She was born in West Warren, daughter of the late Wladyslaw “Walter” and Mary (Was) Zalewski, and was a life-long resident of Ware.

During W.W. II, Helen worked at the former Wm. E. Wright Co., making parachutes, and contined there until she married Harold in 1950.  She then became a full time homemaker and mother and loved taking care of her grandchilden too.    

Helen was a former member and communicant of All Saint’s Church in Ware.

A Funeral Service for Helen will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., Ware.  A calling hour will be held prior to the Service from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
