Beverly J. (Gillis) Jaksa

New Braintree - Beverly  J. “Bev” (Gillis) Jaksa, 87, of New Braintree died on Monday, December 17, 2018 at her home with her loving and caring family by her side.

She leaves her son Gordon A. Jaksa of New Braintree and her two grandchildren, Julie and Caitlyn.   She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years Jozef J. Jaksa in 2002, and her younger brother, Gordon when he was only 15 years old.   She was born in Providence, RI,  daughter of the late Clarence and Eugenia Gillis and lived in Hampden and Wilbraham for 15 years prior to moving to New Braintree over 35 years ago.

Bev worked in Customer Service for the former Bell Telephone Company and then Verizon.  She and Jozef had a farm where they raised sheep, rabbits, and goats.  She enjoyed baking and horticulture, along with flower and vegetable gardening.  Her greatest joy though was being a grandmother. 

A Graveside Service for Beverly will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1:00PM in Oak Grove Cemetery, 246 Bay St., Springfield.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 4 to 6pm in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
