Alicia R. "Mama" (Carrasquilla) Begue

Warren - Alicia R. (Carrasquilla) “Mama´” Begue, 91, of Warren died on Monday, January 29, 2018 at her home with many loving family members by her side.

She leaves three daughters, Beatriz Begue’ of Warren, Gloria Tuttle and her husband Mark of Warren, and Maria Sparks and her husband Clayton of West Brookfield;  three sons, Jorge Begue’ and his wife Vicky of Pickerington, Ohio, Santiago Begue’ and his fiance´ Tamra Field of Nashua, NH, and Luis Begue’ and his wife Amy of Tolland, CT, as well as daugher-in-law Diane Begue’. Alicia also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren – Carmen Percudani, Eric, Kim, Alex, Laura, Matthew, Emily, Justin, Jerami and Carri Begue’, Lauren Norton, Andrew and Michael Sparks, Collin, Cameron and Payton Begue’. Alicia also leaves her dear extended family, David, Susan, Martha, Peter and Seth Wright. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Alberto Begue’ in 1998, and her son Juan Begue’ in 2016. She was born in Fredonia, Colombia, South America, daughter of the late Manuel and Graciela (Giraldo) Carrasquilla.  Alicia will be missed by her sisters and brother and her many nieces and nephews.

Known as “Mama´” to her large extended family, Alicia was most happy going to Cape Cod every summer with her family.  She loved traveling, music and playing Parcheesi.  Alicia kept her heritage close to her heart, and she was very devoted to her Catholic faith, being a long-time communicant at St. Paul’s Church in Warren.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018, at 11:00AM in St. Paul’s Church, 1082 Main St., in Warren.  There are no calling hours, and everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church, 1082 Main St., Warren, MA 01083 or Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01199.
