New Braintree - Roberta L. Purcell, Ph.D., 73, of New Braintree, died suddenly on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Athol Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

She leaves her long-time partner, Martin J. Muysenberg of New Braintree; her sisters, Karen Smith of Fairmont, Indiana and Kay Green of East Leroy, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Cindy Womack of Battle Creek, Michigan; her nephews, Ryan, Aaron, and Damon; her nieces, Pam, Stephanie, Julie, and Dawn, as well as her canine friend Cooper, and her equine friends, Buster and China. She was predeceased by her brother, Jay Lewis. She was born in Coldwater, Michigan, daughter of the late Damon S. and Lois R. (Babcock) Lewis.

Roberta grew up in Michigan, and received her Bachelor Degree from Central Michigan University and her Doctorate Degree from Michigan State University. She worked in Early Childhood Education throughout her career.
