Brookfield - Lawrence L. Hatstat, 93, of Brookfield, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center after a period of declining health over the last few months. He was predeceased by his wife Betty J. Hatstat (Beer).
He leaves his sons, William Hatstat and his wife, Kathleen, of Spencer, and James Hatstat and his fiancé, Cynthia Joubert, of Brookfield; his grandchildren, Connor Hatstat, Chloe Hatstat, and Ryan Caravalho; his sister Irene Lapoint of Rutland; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was born in Holden, son of the late Raymond A. and Irene M. (Wunderlich) Hatstat. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Hatstat, and sister Frances Locke.
Lawrence worked as a machine operator at Brookfield Wire, Inc. for 25 years prior to retirement. When he was 20, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He always held a love for flying, and flew as a commercial pilot, as well as a crop duster pilot and a flight instructor.
He loved the outdoors and would often spend time hiking, cross country skiing or geocaching with Betty. He also enjoyed golf, long distance biking, downhill skiing, and monitoring bald eagle nests.
At his request, services will be held privately.
