West Warren - Robert E. Beaudry Sr., 80, of West Warren passed on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 surrounded by his family at Mercy Hospital in Springfield following a long illness.

Robert leaves his wife of 55 years, Norma (Kershaw) Beaudry; his son, Robert E. Beaudry, Jr. and his wife Linda of Warren; two daughters, Leesa Ann Lewon of Connecticut, and Michelle R. Beaudry of West Brookfield; five grandchildren, Robert III, Olivia, Nathan, Rachael and Renee, as well as seven siblings and many nieces and nephews, and a loyal Bichon Frise companion, Brady. Robert was born in Warren, son of the late Francis H. and Helen D. (Mara) Beaudry and was a life-long resident. He was predeceased by his sister, H. Frances (Beaudry) Hicks.

First and foremost Robert was a devoted family man, always willing to lend a helping hand while sharing his vast knowledge and expertise. Robert and Norma valued many happy years together with their children and grandchildren. Robert will be forever missed but he will always be with us in our hearts and fondest memories.

Robert, along with his brother John, owned and operated Beaudry Trucking, Inc. in Warren. He also served his community in many ways with his caring heart and dedicated spirit.

Serving in the 97th Signal Corp of the 7th Army, Robert was a Sergeant and Paratrooper in the United States Special Forces Green Beret. Prior to his military service, he worked at Warren Pumps and enjoyed racing stock cars, including his favorite 1956 Volkswagen with a Porsche engine and winning first place with his #12 Coupe.

Special thanks to everyone at Mercy Hospital who provided loving care and compassion to Robert and his family over these past few years.

At his request, services for Robert were held privately with military honors at Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in care of Patient Services Fund at Sister Caritas Center, 271 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2377. Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield assisted the family with arrangements.
