Lawrence J. “Larry” Comeau

West Brookfield - Lawrence J. “Larry” Comeau, 85, died on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Dorothy A. (Dixon) Comeau; his son, Lawrence J. Comeau, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ; three daughters, Jacqueline Haviland and her husband Ronald of West Brookfield, Barbara Williams and her husband Ralph of New Milford, CT, and JoAnn Ercoli and her husband Joseph of Charlestown, RI; one brother, Roy Comeau and his wife Beverly of Chandler, AZ; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, and a great-granddaughter.  He was born in Stamford, CT, son of Lorenzo and Evelina (Thibeault) Comeau.  He grew up in Old Greenwich, CT, and lived in Vista, NY for 28 years prior to moving to West Brookfield in 1991.

Mr. Comeau was a United States Army National Guard Veteran of the Korean War. 

Lawrence was a life-long carpenter, he owned and operated L.J. Comeau Builders before retiring in 1993. He was a former member of Carpenters Local 210 in Stamford, CT and Carpenters Local 108 in Springfield.   He enjoyed enjoyed fishing and model ship building as hobbies. 

Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed.  His family would like to thank the staff of the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center for the wonderful care they gave him.

A graveside service for Larry will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 1:00PM in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield.  Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.    Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
